Below are the details provided by our Campus Minister Mrs. Neidl - Thank you all for your support in this endeavor and all the support and sacrifice you provide to make ND-BG the great place that it is!

This past week has been Catholic Schools Week, and each morning our prayer has been St Teresa of Avila’s reflection Christ has no body but yours. Hopefully you have heard these beautiful words in your class prayers, and have discussed them and done some sketching in response to these words in your religion classes this week.

Prayer of St. Teresa

Christ has no body but yours
No hands, no feet on earth but yours.
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
Compassion on this world,
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good.
Yours are the hands with which he blesses the world,
Yours are the hands, yours are the feet,
Yours are the the eyes, you are his body.
Christ has no body but yours
No hands, no feet on earth but yours.
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
Compassion on this world,
Christ has no body now on earth but yours.

On Monday, we are going to take some time as a school community to come together and make a colorful mural to display near our front entrance or in the cafeteria. Each student will have the opportunity to contribute to the mural.

To prepare, I need you to do a few things:

1. Because the prayer focuses on the body of Christ, we are taking up a collection of personal products that allow someone to care for their bodies We want to donate these products to Safe House, a shelter in Schenectady for teens who live on the street and whose bodies have been abused and trafficked by adults who did not see them as the body of Christ. I am asking each of you to bring in one or more of the following: a bar of soap, a toothbrush, a small shampoo, deodorant, skin moisturizer, or a pair/package of new socks.

2. Monday will be a dress down day. Each class is assigned a color and I want you to wear a shirt or sweatshirt – a top of some kind- that is predominantly your class color. Your class color should be the outermost layer that shows, so when a class stands together, we see the color. The class colors are as follows:

  • Seniors: blue
  • Juniors- black
  • Sophs: red
  • Freshman: white
  • Grade 8: grey
  • Grade 7: purple/maroon
  • Grade 6: green

Faculty and staff are asked to wear blue, the color that encourages awareness of human trafficking

During the mural making, we will be using paint, chalk and glue, so please don’t wear clothing you are worried about getting stains on.

3. The school will provide a pizza lunch for everyone. If you are not a pizza eater, bring a lunch from home, as there will be no other options in the cafeteria on Monday.

Finally, the day should be a fun but meaningful celebration of our catholic identity. Im looking forward to sharing it with you.

Mrs. Neidl

Campus Minister
